The fluid looks and smells perfect. I put a stethoscope all over the drivetrain and didn't notice any weird sounds, with it in the air. I'm going to go put it back on the ground and check again, hopefully I don't run myself over.. haha
It might not be the driveshaft. But I see it try to spin ever so slight and clunk, over and over. Put it on stands and it doesn't do it, shifts fine and no noise. Set the wheels down and it does it. It only happens with a load on it. While I had it in the air I put the ebrake on to mimick a...
It's just out of warranty so I don't mind working on it. But I don't have a small enough torque wrench so I can't adjust it right now. I think it calls for 10ftlb and mine starts at 25.
I screwed around with it a little more. It sometimes does it in reverse. But always in forward gears. If I put it in gear with my foot on the brake, at idle, the driveshaft attempts to spin and thunks over and over. Any idea what would be allowing the driveshaft to do this?
So it was a quart low but it didn't fix it. With the rear end off the ground it will shift through all gears fine and doesn't appear to slip. Put the wheels on the ground and it shakes and slips HORRIBLY. Fluid looks fine, doesn't smell burnt. Trans shop said they need it in the truck for...
Little update.. I rewired the GV. I'm not sure how it's suppose to work. I need to find a manual on it. Is the green light only suppose to come on when the GV kicks on? Drive,2nd, and 1st all do the same thing. Under a load it slips and shutters. Reverse seems fine... Maybe because it has a...
I wish that was an option for me. I live outside of town and it's a $300 tow one way to get it to town. It isn't driveable right now. I would have to pull it and take it in. I'm waiting for it to cool off outside , then I'll see if I can narrow down the issue.
Thanks for the suggestions . I am going to get the rear end on stands today , put it in gear and try to narrow down the noise. I'll look in to the band adjustments. If it is the trans I'll pull it and take it in to the trans shop and see what they will do for me.
Usually they suck air at about 1/4 tank. They don't move a lot of fuel, but your lift pump could be weak. The diaphram in the pump can rupture and allow diesel to enter the crank case. Check your oil to be sure that hasn't happened. New pumps are like $20 and super easy to replace.
I just picked up a 2wd bullnose. It has a c6 and J type gear vendors. Reverse works fine, but it shudders in forward gears and doesn't like to move. The trans was recently rebuilt and is just out of it's warranty. The first thing I noticed was the wires to the GV were broken at the solenoid ...
I bought mine from my local motion and flow. I can't remember what brand it was . I don't have the truck anymore so i cant go look. I might have some left over , I'll look tomorrow.
Thanks for the input guys ! I live outside of town and I don't have enough fuel line on hand to move it at the moment, and it really does fit nicely there so I guess I'll leave it and see what happens !
I replaced all the lines on my 94 with quality bio diesel rated rubber hose. At the same time I eliminated the fsv and replaced it with some ball valves. One to control supply and the other to control return. It' nice because you can pull and return to whatever tank you want.
Hey guys. I just got the Holley red hooked up and have a question. I ended up mounting it on the back side of my coolant filter ( which is mounted off the filter head ) because it literally fit perfect on the same mount/bolts. My only concern is the vibrations from the engine. Do you guys think...
This is probably a stupid question.. I'm installing a Holley red . I have a few spare starter relays and I was wondering if they can be used for constant duty? Or do I need a different type of relay to power the pump?
