Any way you could get me a quote for shipping of both through greyhound? I've shipped large stuff through them before ( dash, steering column , radiator) and it was surprisingly cheap.
I have an 85 f250 6.9 extended cab with a 2wd c6. The gear vendors unit is bad so I want to just eliminate it. I need a c6 tail housing and stock driveshaft.
I am located in Medford,OR but can travel or possibly pay shipping.
Ya GV has their products on lock down. From what I've heard they won't sell you any major pieces , only exchange or sell you a full kit. They said for $1500 and my unit they would give me a new heavy duty P style. Which is half the price of a full kit with no core.
Yep! Haha. That's not even all of it. It's everywhere. That thing was not happy. The case halves wont seperate. I might try to find a c6 tail housing and proper driveline and just eliminate it.
Well... I decided to pull the drums just to further eliminate the rear end. I am skeptical that this would cause the issues, but looky what I found on the passenger side. The picture angle sucks but the spring is broken. You can see in the drum where it has been rubbing.
I pulled both shafts, unfortunately everything looked fine. So I put them back in and tried both sides one at a time again. Now it does it on both sides... It feels like something is hanging up/binding/sticking. When I hit the brakes it gets way worse. I'm just going to pull the GV and take it...
So.. I lifted the driver side off the ground and put it in drive. Felt fine. Lowered it down and did the same to the passenger side.. Immediately started shaking. Stripped axle shaft??
Filled the GV back up, no change. It really feels like it's coming from the rear end. I pulled the diff cover and took a vid. The shaking happens even at idle with foot on brake. I can't tell if it's coming from the trans,GV or rear end...
I just spoke with GV. Super nice guy. He said if it was any hard parts it wouldn't get up to speed on stands. So he thinks it's clutches. He said he does think it is the GV unit. So I'm going to go toss new fluid in and see what it does. If it still slips I'll pull the GV and tear it apart. He...
Unfortunately from what I've read they will not sell parts to fix it. They will only rebuild it. I am going to clean it up and toss some oil in it and see what it does. Hopefully that is just built up friction material due to lack of oil changes.. I'm not sure how much is normal, but it seems...
Well, here is everything that came out... From what I've read it should have about 1 quart. No big chunks, screen looked fine but definitely friction(?) material...
It definitely feels like it's towards the rear of the GV and not the trans. But shouldn't the truck just grenade the GV if something was broken, and not slip?
