what paint do you use for your engine blocks?

I've heard god things about those ceramic-based ones like they have from most/many of the 'major brands' have available. No matter what paint you choose to use, no matter what the can says, ALWAYS do more prep than the can says, you want things SPOTLESS before painting, usually over something...

Non diesel related question about 15w 40? you guys are my only quick source.

As already said, 30 weight is standard, but in a pinch, in warm weather, yeah, I would think that should suffice, but I wouldn't make a habit of using it in the mower, as it's not engineered for that viscous of oil. :dunno

Banks Sidewinder will be no more.

BINGO, with a little research and some work making piping and such, this just proves it's ALWAYS BEEN better to rely only on yourself for performance goals on YOUR ride. ;Sweet

"VAPOR LOCK fuel filter light comes on low on power WTF ? NEW FILTER

@O.P. - Does your truck have a turbo? If it does, does she smoke bad when on the throttle? If that's the case, your turbo might be dumping oil into your intake charge, which can make the truck run like a lame horse. :dunno

    DT360 into 1991 F350

That was what I was thinking, I've never understood these guys painting their flanges, I mean yes, it does 'protect them', but it also acts as a potential point for misalignment and other issues like improper torquing of the mating surfaces as the paint crushes and the metal don't( much). Paint...

Will a 92-96 cab work on an 91-older?

That ain't so bad, some work with a body hammer and a block/dolly and it's done, the door edge might take some work, but that's a $100 fix( at most). :dunno

    DT360 into 1991 F350

Not to lump on, but the paint thickness on the machined surface of your bell housing will also add to the issues with your clutch alignment. Great paint job though, project looks good. ;Sweet

    Homemade filter cleaner???

It is an amazingly good degreaser, it also pulls heavy 'soils' out of things, it's one of my all time favorite cleaner, it's 'safe', people have been using it for thousands of years, it's also good against bacteria and the like. A GREAT all purpose cleaner is using between 4 and 8 ounces and...

    Homemade filter cleaner???

Another FANTASTIC degreaser and is CHEAP if you can handle the smell is ammonia, like regular households ammonia like you'd use to clean around your house.

    Homemade filter cleaner???

Let me preface this with the following statement. I have never used a K&N filter, nor am I affiliated in any way to K&N, I have never cleaned one of their filters, nor have I handled one in any way, so I have no real knowledge about them beyond their filters being made from a very fine metal...

    [HELP] Truck won't start

Yes, you're right, but what you and I might describe as a 'click', another might call a 'clunk'. :dunno

    [HELP] Truck won't start

If your cowl weatherstripping is shot, and you had a leak into your air cleaner, water theoretically could have ran into one or more cylinders. EDIT - OldBull is suggesting maybe a blown head gasket letting coolant fill the cylinders, by leaking from the coolant passages into the...

    [HELP] Truck won't start

Depends on how 'authentic' or 'original' you wanna be, if you have no problem with using what works whether it's 'pretty' or not, then even tractor supply stores will have positive cables. To avoid possible future confusion, make sure you replace the positive cable with red cable, and the...

    [HELP] Truck won't start

Basically, disconnect your positive cable, trace it's path, follow along it until it terminates, depending on how bad your cables look all along the way, you might need to replace them all the way to the starter solenoid on the starter. Then, after replacing the positive cable, repeat the...

The Future of the IDI Weekend

Then the four or five that may be close get together. In my geographic location, basically my only 'close' members would be 'junk' and that nice fella from the Fargo area, and they're still at or over 100 miles away.

The Future of the IDI Weekend

I've never been to a rally and I've only been an Oil Burners member a little over a year, and I'm a 'mooch member' in that I'm not a supporting member. That being said, I did go through the past messages and I gleaned some insight, maybe. - Everyone wants to attend a safe and fun rally...

Question abut atf in fuel filter clean up?

Exactly, if basing thinking upon anecdotal evidence, ALL anecdotal evidence MUST be weighed with the same scrutiny, otherwise, we are letting our personal opinions cloud 'the facts'
