    RPM Range 366

Hey, off topic, those Grand Marquis are some nice rides, the back seat area was a little short on leg-room, but since the platform was also used for the Crown Vic cop cars, you'd not want the criminals to be too comfortable. :rotflmao

    RPM Range 366

Honestly, the best cruising rpm for a 366 is like any other big block, the slower the better. I'd aim for probably in the 1500-2000 range. Those engines don't like revving fast, and when they do, they burn a LOT of fuel and it increases wear and tear on the engine. The only real problem with...

    drivline splitter

An F250 also isn't a 'medium duty truck' it's a light duty; you'd need to be in the F450-500 -to-F800 to be 'medium duty'.

    drivline splitter

An '86 F250 with a 390? I guarantee that's not the original engine, Ford stopped installing FE big blocks in the 1976 model year, so someone along the way in that truck's life would have built it, and likely hobbled together whatever they thought was cool, you might be COMPLETELY Porked.

@ Ryan Though if you don't mind it not being street legal, you'd have one HELLUVA bad-ass trail rig. :sly ;Sweet

1991 3/4 ton Ford Ranger build

I'm not sure exactly what your GVW rating is, but there will likely be a sticker on the b-pillar by the striker on the driver's side door that will say something like 1220lbs front at 35 psi and 1810 rear on 215/70R15 tires 35 psi. That would mean that in my example, the GVW would likely be...

Weird popping noise coming from rear end

How far back on the truck does it sound like the sound is coming from? If it's all the way back, it could be your differential, you might have a 'posi' I'm not sure what the z-71 package consisted of. If it's a 'posi' or limited slip, it might be coming from the rear-end adjusting to 'lock'...

    Considering a 91 Chevy build

You never stated the 'size' of the truck, what is it/ A 1/2 ton(1500), 3/4(2500) or what? That effects your ability to find parts, but even a 'big' truck like a 4500 or something will still share a bunch of parts with the smaller 1500 and 2500 like cab parts, windshield, and that's about it.

    Towing in OD w/ 3.55s

The towing while in OD thing is completely new to me, and technically, you probably shouldn't. An OD is great if your engine is powerful-enough to muscle things along; the engine in his( the O.P.) truck obviously isn't up-to snuff for handling towing while in OD. If it was, it wouldn't need to...

1991 3/4 ton Ford Ranger build

@ Ryan, the GVW ticker says what the maximum legal weight that rig can weigh, probably somewhere around 4,000-4,500lbs. If the rig weighs more than that, it is in no-way, shape or form 'street legal', and if the fuzz wanted to be a bunch of dicks, which is a common thing, they coulf fine you for...

    Towing in OD w/ 3.55s

Well, I'll admit the factory tends to overstate the obvious, but they really don't know what we'd be towing. To them, a small pop-up camper is the same as a 18,000lb gooseneck. They don't have the common sense to see the difference, mainly because that common sense was SUED out.

    Towing in OD w/ 3.55s

I'm not trying sound dickish, but the factory tells you to NOT tow in Overdrive.

    Considering a 91 Chevy build

Body parts are EASY to come-by for those trucks, which means they can be had for a fair price, well, unless you demand OEM parts.

    Considering a 91 Chevy build

A decently well-built 350, pushing around 400 horses could be attained for well below $5,000, a trans can be acquired fr less than $1,800 that would EASILY handle that power, the stock rear-end might be able to handle it, depends on the 'size' of the truck(1/2, 3/4, 1 ton etc. ). If it's a stock...

    Considering a 91 Chevy build

Jegs, Summit Racing, GM Performance Part, Speedway motors, a copy of "Truckin' ". Any or most of these will have almost everything you'd need, from suspension to brakes, to engine and trans and all that. The Truckin' will have more stuff for adding airbags under the rig and running those insane...

Not to knock those talking about Single turbos and that; not to start anything, but it's not your project, so your opinions on why I shouldn't do it aren't really valid. I'm more asking for some guidance from some of the guys here that might provide some insight as-to how I could accomplish my...

    @ 88, Though if I can't make that work, I'm thinking of a 3406 Cat, probably around 425-475BHP powering that F800. :sly :D LOL

    Navistar 6.9L boost limits.

@88 I'm actually sorta toying with a very similar set-up to what I mentioned, but applied to an F800 Tow-monster rig I'm thinking about with a 7.8 Brazilian. Though on that, I'd be more concerned with more long-term durability, maybe something with a total of SIX turbos, but all rigged to...
