What to do first with engine still on the stand??
IMHO no more than 400 hp and you'll be happy. If you want to tow like you say, but want more, just put in a valet switch and use it when towing, then you can have all the fun power when driving it empty.- TPCDrafting

It really depends on what you want to use the truck for as far as bombs go. I use mine almost exclusively for heavy towing at high altitude and anything more than 350 hp I can't seem to keep temps under control at least on my budget. Get one from a manual transmission setup. The 97-98 have the 215hp pump. Look for a block that does NOT have a '53' about 1" high just above the oil pan seal on the front side of the block. Packrat is right. It's called beam camber. It is actually used in structural steel design in many buildings as well. what turbo to run?
The only way I'd believe over 700 hp with the stock turbo intact would be if it were sitting on the work bench having been replaced with something bigger before all that power was added. Check www.nada.com for your area. Find out how much of the tranny is DTT. Contact the installer if you can. Is it a quad cab? LB or SB? Check the fuel pressure if possible. Be sure to give us a full report on the SOP'o'meter and EGT differences. I'm curious what the real world differences are between this one and the ATS if there are any worth mentioning as far as performance goes. need some new injectors
no need to upgrade anything to put in those injectors as far as the pump goes. You will need a pyrometer gauge to watch as they will run hotter in the egt's over stock.
