I didn't think that the smell had to do with the fuel leak, I just happened to find it when looking at the CDR system. I am pretty sure that the CDR is causing the smell.
Thanks for the info I will check into those kits, I am going to need something its probably not to great to have fuel...
Well I pulled off the air cleaner and looked at the CD-R valve. It looks like it is the original (same color as valve covers) I'm guessing that is my smell. However while looking around I found that I am getting diesel pooling at the back of my intake. Which makes me think my air intrusion isn't...
It looks pretty clean under the hood. I will look it over better tonight and see if there is a wire or leaks. I know I have a ps leak but I don't think it is getting on anything hot.
I just didn't know if there was anything IDI specific that would cause an oil leak on acceleration.
So I have a bit of an odd issue. When I step into my truck it smells like something is burning, it smells like a combination of oil and electrical. It only happens when I gun it. Normal slow acceleration and driving it doesn't happen. Any ideas?
Thanks
Thanks for all the great info everyone. Basically cost wise it's not that much difference; I'm looking at about $1000-1500. So it's really the fact of more work with better results or less work with ok results. No I just need to talk my chief financial officer ( my wife) into buying the zf5.
That is my next step. I really would like to have a 5 speed but at the same time it is going to cost just as much as a HD rebuild of the C6. Do you have any good leads to research it.
Thanks for the replies. These are used ones, I am guessing he bought a bunch at an auction or something so no core charge. I am trying to decide if I want to jump into it. What all will I need to do the swap besides the obvious clutch linkage? Also will a transfercase off a c6 fit the zf5?
I found a guy who has several zf5 transmissions for sale. He is asking $500 for known good ones and $200 for ones he thinks are bad. None of them have grander cases or clutch/fly wheels. $500 seems a little steep to me is this a decent price?
My truck has a c6 now. Would the transfer case from...
I went out and looked at it again and I see the metal line you are talking about is it quick connects on each end of it or can I clamp rubber hose to it?
Well maybe I should leave the pump where it is until it dies then get the duralift. I'll just fix the wiring, it has a wonderful wiring job now. It's speaker wire shoved into the fuse block.
I thought it looked like 3/8 I just wanted to double check. So just regular diesel rated rubber line?
So I have been having troubles with air intrusion. After searching around I found the culprit. The guy before me installed a frame mounted electric pump and added a splice to connect the pieces that were originally on either side of the mech pump. The spice is leaking fuel so I assume air is...
