    6.5 crossover pipe?

so, my dad needs new exhaust. his truck is stock, and doesnt need 4", but the exhaust is rotting off the truck and i finally talked him into it. i ordered a diamond eye 4" kit and a imco crossover pipe for it 2 weeks ago, summit had the best pricing i could find with everything totaling up under...

    clutch failure x3?

upon closer inspection, it seems my clutch fork is worn and has some small cracks in the pivot ball area, and the pivot ball is worn also. the local parts stores have the fork, but it looks like i have to order the pivot ball from the stealership.

    clutch failure x3?

on a cast iron bell housing you could check for cracks by magna fluxing it, my bell is cast aluminum so that wont work. i cleaned up the bell all nice and pretty, there are some places i cant tell for sure if they are casting lines, or cracks? is there a good way to test aluminum for cracks...

    clutch failure x3?

the info about the 02 ic is great, hopefully i can use that info sooner than later. here are some pics of the most recent clutch failure, they are also typical of all the previous failures. the pics demonstrate how it was when i took it out of the truck. 1. clutch on pressure plate 2...

    clutch failure x3?

ive looked at the bell, but i guess i should clean it up and take a closer look at it. thats a good idea, thanks. about the pilot, thats the impression i was under, and im not in the habit of sitting there with the clutch pushed in.

    clutch failure x3?

i guess i shouldnt say ""in a chevy" because i dont know about the duramax with a zf6, bun in a 6.2L detroit the bushing is in the crank.

    clutch failure x3?

i love the idea of a ball bearing, but in a chevy the pilot bushing is in the crankshaft, a ball bearing would require removing the crank and having it machined. wouldnt it? every 4 speed sm465 i have pulled, and every one i installed a brass bushing has come out and thats what i put back in...

    clutch failure x3?

bump for any new ideas, am i the only one to repeatedly tear out the springs? i am having the nv4500 rebuilt this time, but it would be nice to know if im doing something else wrong before i put it back together again. thanks in advance

    clutch failure x3?

chvycmnslvr68, if your truck has the drw spacers that bolt on the front rotors, and you are willing to get rid of them, i would be interested in them if the price was right and shipping isnt too outrageous to 68061. anyone else notice sigs quit showing up?

    clutch failure x3?

i replace the pilot every time with a new oil impregnated brass bushing, and it seems to be wallerd out every time. what might cause it to be off centered? there are 2 dowels in the back of the block that fit nice and snug in the trans bellhousing. the mating surfaces between the block and bell...

    clutch failure x3?

well i know its been awhile, from the dates on this thread it looks like the diesel clutch lasted about 18 months. sense i last posted on this thread, i replaced the clutch in my dads 1996 chevy with a 6.5 and his is still working perfect. mine on the other hand gave up on me again, same problem...

    New tank score!

electrolysis is what the process is called. google or youtube remove rust with electrolysis this might work pretty well for a old rusty fuel tank.

    New tank score!

oh yeah, i think he said it makes hydrogen gas (the stuff that sent the hindenburg crashing to the ground in a ball of fire), so make sure the tank isnt sealed so it doesnt build pressure, and do it in an open space away from ignition sources.

    New tank score!

i picked up 2 old fuel tanks and one stand for 25 bucks a few weeks back, my first option was to cut one end off then sand blast the inside and heli arc the end back on. not a big problem for me, just a bit time consuming. i had a buddy suggest reverse electrolosis or osmosis or something...
