How best to replace high-pressure power steering hose....?
I wouldn't take my truck into the shop for the PS pressure hose. Should be straight forward. Make sure you have a new pressure hose on hand and then tackle the swap on Saturday morning. Might have to take off the PS pump or cooler. Remember not to use Teflon tape, the PS pressure hose has...- Olds64

Another lift pump lets me down.
I'd go with the Carter mechanical fuel pump if you want to stay OE. NAPA or Car Quest seem to have more reliable parts or professional sales folks than any of the other chains. That being said, I generally shop at the local O'Reilly's.- Olds64

Diesel Rx Glow plugs
That's crazy they were trying to blame you, but at least you got them out without disassembling the engine. FWIW, those battery boost chargers would never be able to start one of our IDIs. I tried to use one to start my classic Oldsmobile and it was a no-go. All that happened was the charger...- Olds64

Hypermax turbo question
I've never heard anything bad about any of the turbo kits. Just make sure you buy all the parts at once (instead of piecing a kit together). Ask me how I know... LoL- Olds64

Cheap diesel fuel ok?
I try to buy diesel from high volume stations (On Cue, Sam's Club, VP, etc.). There are the higher volume truck stops (Loves & Flying J) but they're out of my way. Right now B10 diesel is running $3.89/gallon in OKC. That's cheaper than the last time I put diesel in my tank, but more than last...- Olds64

Rebuilt engine need help diagnosing
x2 on checking the rocker arm movement on the driver's side AND running a compression test. If one of your cylinders has low compression you can do a leak down test to see if it's losing compression through the rings/valves/gasket.- Olds64

Fuel line help
That's a bummer that the Facet fuel pumps have questionable quality now. I haven't switched over to an electric fuel pump yet. When I bought my truck the PO had a parts store cheapie electric fuel pump in it. I replaced it with a parts store mechanical fuel pump. Actually, that mechanical fuel...- Olds64

Fuel line help
I'm in the process of replacing the nylon fuel line in my Bullnose truck. FWIW, I used steel braided 6AN hose and a hose clamp over the nylon fuel lines in the past. Unfortunately, it leaked on me. Now I'm going to make sure the nylon fuel line has a hose barb in it if I mate it to rubber hose...- Olds64

Another lift pump lets me down.
That's a bummer you've had trouble with Carter fuel pumps. It's a brand I recognize. Some other folks mentioned the Holley Red/Blue pumps earlier. They're a big name in aftermarket fuel pumps for hot rods.- Olds64

Marinized 7.3 IDIT
If it's cavitated can that be repaired with sleeves, or does that junk the engine? Machine work isn't cheap these days, and it might be difficult to find a machinist willing to work on an IDI let alone a marine engine.- Olds64

Marinized 7.3 IDIT
Interesting, seems pretty high priced though. I paid $650 for a 7.3l IDIT from a salvage yard a few years ago. Are the marine diesels that much better than the ones available in trucks? Of course, I bought mine as a core that needed a rebuild, but that post says it needs head gaskets.- Olds64
