    Another charging problem...

Awesome, I'll see what I can find. I do have an aftermarket radio, so I suppose there will be some expected draw from that. If I check battery voltage with the key off engine off at night, then recheck i. The morning, would that provide any valuable information? After working on the truck...

    Another charging problem...

Kizer, using the test light for a parasitic drain wouldn't work if there are multiple circuits with a drain, right? It seems to me the light could stay on when you pull the fuse of a bad circuit if there's another bad circuit. Is that accurate? I have a multimeter, and it looks like you can do a...

    Another charging problem...

Thanks for all the thoughts. I'm headed to town tonight for a voltage regulator wiring harness, figure I'll pull the alternator and get it tested just to confirm that's it's functioning properly. Once I get that all put back together I'll have to try that test for a parasitic draw. UPDATE: I...

    Another charging problem...

Hey all, I have a 1990 7.3 that isn't charging well. I have to jump it every 2 or 3 days. I've been researching and working on it for hours, and don't seem to be getting anywhere. Electricity isn't my strong point for sure The alternator is just over a year old. The batteries are brand new...

    Self regulating glow plugs

Idibronco, are the motocraft plugs you use self regulating? Also, is there any chance you've got a part number for those? Everything I'm finding for 6.9 Motorcraft plugs look like the threads are a lot different than the 7.3 plugs

    Self regulating glow plugs

In theory that works. Not If you go to long though, lol. I just figure as long as I'm gonna have to do plugs again I might as well get the self regulators, if I can. The harness also has to be replaced because the connectors are quite beat up. So either way I'll be pulling the harness. I just...

    Self regulating glow plugs

Hey all I just rigged up a manual switch for my gp's and went and burned em up. I guess I was heating the gp's too long cuz now they're all toast. Only 1 shows resistance, the others show exactly 0 resistance. Anyways, my dad pointed me in the direction of self regulating glow plugs...

Power glow plugs thru a switch straight from the battery?

Thanks for all the advice. Sounds like I have quite a few options here that I'll have to look into. I'm in no rush to get this project done at the moment, considering the current automatic system is still functioning, and I have a few more pressing projects to take care of on the truck before I...

Power glow plugs thru a switch straight from the battery?

IDIBRONCO, thanks for all the help. I'll have to mess with that when i get the chance. For now the controller and relay are doing their jobs, so I'm in no hurry First I have to get the gas out of the rear tank that my wife accidentally put in there... but that's a whole other thread lol

    Gas in the tank...

    Gas in the tank...

Hey all, To make a long story short, my wife accidentally put gasoline in the rear tank of my 1990 f250 7.3idi. We were moving both of the trucks and she doesn't drive standard transmissions so I was driving the Chevy and she was in the Ford. Fortunately, I noticed it before she was done...

Power glow plugs thru a switch straight from the battery?

Thanks for the info. I guess I was right, stupid idea. Figured it was worth asking though. So if I understand you correctly all I have to do is run the white wire off the relay to one side of the switch, and ground the other side of the switch somewhere under the dash? Also, I assume I want...

Power glow plugs thru a switch straight from the battery?

Hey all, I just bought a 1990 7.3 with an ATS turbo. Haven't had one of these trucks in years because, unfortunately, I bought my first one as a stupid 18 year old and ruined it. So I sold it to a guy who wanted the zf-5 out of it. And I've kicked myself over that ever since. But now I...

    7.3 idi cracked head?

Hey all, Got a question for y'all. First some back story. 1991 f250 7.3 idi overheated just over a month ago. I thought I had just ran it out of coolant, so I filled the radiator back up with water after work so I could get home. Drove it for almost a month with no issues, then it...
