COMPLETE 1993 7.3 IDI engine bent rod - 300.00
Engine is complete, clean, I pulled out of my 1993 F350, it has 146k miles, back passenger cylinder either cavitated or water got in from the top, always ran perfectly, placed brand new injector pump and injectors (didn't know about SCA's neither did my dad so it may have cavitated don't know...- ferrellmedia

Water got into the engine, no head gasket failure, so it's either cavitation OR the water leaked thru the top down into the intake. Took the truck to the stealership this morning and the guy working there that had the most experience with the IDI's stated that the noise was normal. So now I'm stuck, does this "tick" that turned into a louder "knock" cause me to get rid of this truck??? Thanks again everyone for taking...- ferrellmedia

Sorry to keep posting; Oil consumption during first 2k miles was 3 qts, 1qt over the first 1k miles and 2qts after my run to miami. No, zero coolant consumption, SCA's kept on target. NO, ZERO oil leaks. Truck does not smoke unless I shower down on it, (which I did do frequently...- ferrellmedia

OK, I ran a new 90lbs magnet thru the old oil and only minor trace particles adheared to the magnet. I also ran my hand thru the bottom of the oil and there are no other particles in the oil. I did run taps thru the majority of the bolt holes as I was buttoning the engine up, (valve covers, all intake bolt holes, all oil pan holes, etc..) using lock-tight (blue). I drained the oil today and found a small amount of "curled" metal shavings attached to my magnetic drain plug, picture attached. good news is that the noise was quieter after the oil change, but didn't go away. I cut open the oil filter but not sure what you guys are suggesting I do now...- ferrellmedia

But tried to open up a fuel filter when initially installing the engine and it was more work than I initially thought, so I'm thinking the oil filter will be a lot of work as well. Have not cut the oil filter yet, I think I will just send a sample off for analysis, looks like the best bet, but intend to drain the oil and check for gunk and keep the filter in case I want to go thru the trouble of opening it up later.
