I have a 1983 f250 6.9l with a/c.

My truck had black rtv on it when i removed the oil pan. I was thinking of using the same. I've heard that you put a bead and let it set for 10 minutes and install and i've also heard the same but they use there finger to smooth it out a little and then reinstall. Whats the differance between...
Ya want to find a good one, don't want to do this again. when you say weld it do you weld it around where the tube and mounts to the pump (where mine broke?)
so i removed the oil pan and boy was that fun!. Found the pickup tube was broken. My question is where can i get new one at besides going to the local wrecking yard
good info to know, thks for all the input think all drop the pan and give it a check. i did install a mechanical gauge when i got the truck it does the same as the factory gauge.
Ya its full of oil, the first thing i was thinking was the pick up tube but what about oil pressure regulater? should be one of the two. I dont drive it much just to work and back is all about five miles is all.
