ok thanks...now i found i have rust issues...lol where the cap meet the cab their was a rubber seal...no window... well it leaked and i took off the cap to address the problem...at the bottom of the window on pass side there is about a 2"x 4" hole...rust...and the bottom of same panel where it...
i do have a exh temp gauge on dash. it reads just over 600 driving around. the timing is kinda confussing to me...i need a meter...what kind and how/what do you look for.

ok...should i go back to a idi mech fuel pump? or just find a diesel rated elec and go from there. i have no idea whats on it now besides elec. so i will just replace it. it also has a regulator on it that only gose to 5...could this be my problem? posted in pic...

changed the fuel filter and it does start alittle better...but now it shuts down after about 10 secs and just before shut down it tires to idle up then chocks out...no stumble just shut off no hesitation. but it will start back up after about 5 trys not like before about an hour later....so...
thanks all, i pulled it home and it idle the whole time...about 1.5 hours. but as soon as you give it some throttle it dies. also the fuel/water seperator has been bypassed...i will hook it back up.i will post some more pics here soon
