Zf5

I just bought a zf5 trans that was behind a 460 gas and i was wondering about putting it in my 1996 diesel. I’ve read a lot about drilling out the bellhousing holes but I’m not sure if it will work. Thanks

Typ4 has a decent response in this thread, check out post #9. Keep in mind the gas and diesel zf5 had different gear ratios as explained here. If it were me I would part with the gas zf5 and hunt down a zf5-s47 from a 95-97 Powerstroke, but I also understand you work with what you have. Good luck.
