zf-6 speed's

hey ya'll was browsing on craigslist and was lookin at some five speeds for my 85 conversion... i came across a 6 speed zf...would it be possible to bolt it right up or is it a removable bell housing?

wont bolt up psd has a different bolt pattern. you might be able to drill it but then you still wouldnt have a flywheel to work. ive never heard of a psd flywheel bolting onto an idi but crazier things have happened.

7.3 powerstroke and IDI's have the same bell housing bolt pattern. A zf-6 will work, just not 100% bolt in other than bell housing.

I just can't see it being worth the time and money just to gain an extra gear.

And you need a transfer case form behind a ZF6. Nothing else will work.

Kinda pointless. They are way expensive and so are their parts and accessories

Its not like the 6th gear is a deep overdrive either...which would be nice.

it does give you a deeper 1st and reverse though;Sweet

The OBS 7.3PSD and the IDI's have the same bolt pattern.... The 99+ SuperDuty 7.3, 6.0 PSD's have a different bolt pattern.... the ZF-6 was not introduced until the SD's........
