what kind of motor might be installed in this?

anyone have an idea what kind of diesel motor might be installed in a Chevy 1983-1987 (?) former ambulance? any way to double check?

also, what kind of transmission?

2wd, less than 10,000 GWV, automatic

Should be a GM 6.2L IDI with either a TH350 (3 speed) or a TH700R4 (4 speed overdrive) if its an automatic.

turned out to be a 1986 H30 model. took it for a drive and motor was strong. pulled dip stick and nothing but sludge. too bad. only 66K miles. amazing that the guy wanted $4000 for a $1000 truck.

Its kinda funny how that works out. Then there is the other side of the coin where people sell a used vehicle that has a new or rebuilt everything in it (allegedly!) Sometimes your best off buying from the people who really have no idea what the heck they are selling. They usually dont lie because they just dont know. Thats also the hardest type of seller to find

i dont think GM put a TH 350 behind a 6.2, pretty sure its either a 700r4 or TH 400

More than likely in that application it would be a 400. But I didn't roll underneath it and look. I only guess that because that's a pretty heavy application to want to run an overdrive under
