Wastegate solenoid

When the wastegate solenoid fails, can this be an intermittent thing? On the weekend we went camping and it seems the solenoid was acting up, boost was all over the place, on, off, up, down, Lots of black etc. But now it hasn't acted up since Sun aft.

if I remember correctly, thats what mine did. Shortly after I put a new one on I ended up putting on a Turbo Master instead. But I havent got that adjusted exactly right yet. much smoother boost, though.
