Some axles have wedges that go on bolts to lock axle in. Its been years so I have no idea of what sizes they are available in but you could easily taper hole on axle to use them if you can find the correct size.

strange, 12 mm is .472 so a bolt would be slightly under that a couple thou, but dont think .454.

I might have measured where the bolt was worn a little, but a 12-1.75 mm thread die just fits fine on them, I know it's not a 7/16" bolt, I couldn't even start the bolt in a 7/16" thread die.

I think I'll be just fine with new bolts, all the old bolts are worn where they fit thru the hub. Not as bad as I first thought, gotta learn not to panic in my old age.:D

Thanks Fastenal. Hey do you guys stock the 12-1.75 mm bolts and lock washers? Sure do, they come in a box of 13 or 25.

So I bought the BAGS of 25 of bolts and washers. Total cost $21.15.

Just gonna replace both sides rear wheels for good measure, cheap enough. Yep, there grade 8 Made in USA.

READ MY STORY IN THE LOUNGE ABOUT GOING TO FASTENAL, interesting. Gonna take 1/2 hr to type it in.
