I'm at an auction and there's a 6.9 engine sitting here. Vin # is 6.9 d u2 0226360
Numbers on intake manifold are 1804357c3.
Is this the B block???

Found this for ya.

Should be the better design.

6.9L New Style Block
Block Casting Number: 1807996C1 Note: Some new style blocks have casting
number 440. Above serial number 173828.
Visual Identification:
*Has counterbored area for block heater
*Very defined relief area cast in side of block for dip stick tube.
*Thickness of cast iron around block heater 15/32" (.470")
*Latest style (not all new style 6.9) has ribs around head bolts, rear two on left side go from head gasket surface to pan rail - same as 7.3
Head Bolts:
*Same as old style 6.9

Below is the engine I bought earlier today. Looking at it closer, it looks to have a rebuilt injection pump with the stanadyne tag clearly visible. Valley pan, seals, glowplugs, block heater, head gaskets, etc. appear to be brand new. Even the headbolts look like they were replaced. This engine came from a rebuild shop and thats all the info I have on it. There must have been 50 people standing around it and everyone was scratching their heads as to what kind of engine it was lol. The auction guy said it was a 7.3 ford engine and I had to correct him lol. Even came with the cool homemade cart its sitting on. I had to bid on this and consider this a steal! Never hurts to have a spare laying around :sly
