This is probably 100% true as far as noise inside the cab. I am sure that the cab of the truck being much farther away from the exhaust exit would make it much less noticable to the driver. However, it would still be extremely loud for anyone else around the truck on the road and draw quite a bit of attention. I prefer to not stand out too much, although it could just be sign i am getting old.
It's 100% personal preference as far as the noise goes.
