Time for new treads on Carla's '91. Presently it has 285/75-16 BFG AT's. It is unlifted with the exception of air bags on the front to level it. I am thinking of going up to 315/75-16 which will be going from a 33" to 35" tire and adding 1" width. I was wondering if anyone is running this combo on an unlifted truck and if you have clearance problems. Pictures, if you have them, of this combo would also be great.

Tom, I'm not certain but there is a good chance 35's will rub somewhere. When I put new rubber on the Moosestang, I was talked out of 35's by my trusted 4X4 shop, and that was with a 2" body lift, and the 86 body style, which is the one considered to have the most wheel well space. My 33's rub the radius arm if I cut the wheel all the way over. Of course her truck doesn't have one of those though.

Tom, i put that combination on my '85 with the TTB and i had to cut about 2 inches off the front and rear of the front fender to be able to turn without it rubbing metal. You might be able to get away with it with the different fender arch on a 91.

The rears fit just fine, they should have came with that size stock

315 = 34.2 inches
just put them on my 96
with a 3" body lift plus the fact it is a solid axle(2.5" higher than a ttb)
i had to trim the bumper, but I also only lifted the bumper 1"
they also hit the back of the spriongs at full lock
on th 92 with 37's and the same lift, I had to cut the bumper further.

Back in 88 dad had a new gasser, he put 33x12.5s on it, they fit but would rub the running boards.
I dont think 35's will fit an unlifted truck

I have 33's on my truck and have often thought about 35's, but I am confident it would interfere without a lift on the front. There's tons of room in the back.

granted i have a 4 inch lift i am running 315's and i rub on the leafs when i try to turn lock to lock. higher offset wheels might help that but then the bumper is an issue, stick with the 285's or 305's!

You guys have confirmed what I already suspected. I'll be upgrading to an 8.5" wide wheel so I think I'll go with 295/75-16 BFG's. Just a scoshe bigger than the 285's. I considered the 305's, but they don't list them in a 75 aspect ratio, only a 70. Too short for me.
