I need new tires, and like my 33x12.5x16.5 that are on my truck, but tires are no longer available. I imagine that I am not the first to make the switch to a different wheel. What is the size to go with that is similar to what I have now, and what wheel to fit that tire? TIA.

A 16" rim will fit over your brakes and make your tires cheaper compared to 17s and larger. The 8x6.5 bolt pattern was the standard up until like 98 on fords and I believe it still is on Chevy and dodge. Only problem with them is if the center hole will fit over your hubs

265/75/16 or 285/75/16 are the close replacements even the 315/75/16 will looks good at oem height on a 16x10 rim.

I say dump the 16.5's, but then I'm biased against 16.5's anyway. I haven't priced any lately, but it seems like the 16's were much cheaper.

I dumped 16.5's back in the late 90's when they were getting scarce.

I've been considering 17's. Seems like 17's are more plentiful these days.

I don't want to get into another tire availability issue with 16's. They will go away next, and was thinking 17's might be around longer.

There's still 14s out there hanging on for dear life lol. 15s are a dime a dozen. You don't have to worry about not being able to find 16" tires. My first car almost 10 years ago had 13" rims and I put brand new tires on it for like 180$ lol

Negative unless you know something I don't. I just went through this about 6 months ago. No one I called or talked to had any. The listings are still there, but there's no inventory anywhere. What I was told is BFG was the only company and stopped in 2014 or so.

I had the exact quandary as the op. I went with 16's. 295/75r16 BFG A/T. Wound up with aluminum rims. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/AEW-0589-7888 Wasn't much more than steel ones and I liked them better. Nice thing for me is the 295/75 has a 3900 lb max load vs ~3k (IIRC) on the 33x12.50r16.5. With the 16.5s I was close to or at max load on the tires when I loaded the truck down and I wasn't real fond of that. The extra 1000 lb is nice for peace of mind.

Not the best pics, but it's what I had....
