Well. Tomorrow I'm going to open up the zf with the cracked bell housing. I know the one in the 4x4 needs 2nd, 3rd and reverse at least. So doing the spare makes sense to speed up the clutch job . First time doing one of these.
Can't be near as aggravating as the getrag I did a couple years ago.

I had forgotten about that write up. . Anyway got the trans apart, no gears off yet but other than synchros touching cones on 3rd gear it looks great inside, A tiny bit of water damage but for a 50 dollar core im happy, now to get the full bearing kit coming. The bearings arent shiny, kinda dusty looking . Its getting a full set regardless.

Heres some basic pics.
Ive done hundreds of transmissions, this is the first ZF

Nice work if you can get it Russ.
Tell me about the lathe in the background. I need to purchase one but probably wont use one this size. But never know what may come to be for the right price. Would really like a nice used Logan...:angel::D

Simply, its the crappiest as far as having no friction adjusting that work to lock the feed and cross down. Otherwise its not bad. Its a central machinery from HF 20 yrs old.
