I'd get it just for the clean body and the cheap price, go through the injection system, and ride her till she dies. But just like anything, check it thoroughly. The 6.2s are not bad engines, just make sure it never got overheated. Do the glowplugs and controller too while your at it.
His no start issue is either glow plug related or something in the fuel injection system took a crap.

I was stating that it could have jumped time, timinng chain is 100 bucks + a few pushrods and a few valves.

That's a worse case scenario. Most of the time, just like the Fords, after 100k the glowplugs and fuel injection system get tired, and need to be done.
Most folks ashcan these engines just because the glowplugs and controller went south.

yup id get it, good old reliable truck that will get awesome mpg. and like said above the GPs crap out and wont start after about 100k
