03-04 were Dana 60 leaf spring axles. 99-03 there’s a lot of Dana 50s that look like a Dana 60.

01 will be a Dana 50, in 02 ford switch to the Dana 60.

Don’t expect earth shattering performance going from 3.55 to 3.73 it’s such a small change expect maybe 200rpm increase in each gear.

Make sure to check out the tracbar bracket on the axle, they like to crack or break off on the 99-04 axles.

From what I've understood, didn't all the 350s come with 60s up front? I thought it was just the pre 04 250s and excursions to watch for.
If nothing else I'll bring a pencil and paper to get the numbers and confirm before I do any pulling.

I'll look at the bracket, but as far as the gears go I commonly drive an 07 350 w/3.55s and an 05 350 w/ bigger tires 3.73s both with 6.0s and really like the 3.73s. Heck when she's running solid I'm pretty satisfied with the 3.55s just looking for a little more torque for towing and since I rarely tow more than 6-8k usually with a lot of highway.

I wanna say the best I've got on mpg was roughly 16 but then again it's never run solid long enough to get an accurate number when everything's good. Right now I'm getting about 10 with a trailer and 14-16 without. Mixed hwy/city

Since it's a cclb I don't plan on much hardcore wheeling. More of just a tow pig with some versatility. Although she'll definitely be getting lockers and a winch at some point once everything else is sorted out.
