Actually it doesnt, as hard as it was I refrained from turning up the pump till I got a pyro. Looks like I wont be for now. I hit 1300 once on the big grade heading out of town with the go pedal down

Big grade heading out of town??? you aren't by any chance in Lewiston, because if you're heading up that grade, any engine is borderline meltdown climbing that sucker
No I'm north of there, that is a mean hill though. Well I couldnt resist turning up the pump. Actually it is cooler pulling the hill now since I dont have to have the hammer down all the way up
Keep in mind that unless you've tested it, no pyrometer can be guaranteed to be 100% accurate. This is why guys who push it to 1250 or 1300 might get lucky. Your probe/gauge combo might be reading 100 degrees too hot, especially if you shortened the wiring at all. Better that way, then 100 degrees too cool though.
I'm about 2000-3000 feet higher than you during most of my driving. I think 1250 is the safe max for a short time. I know I need a turbo, I'm trying to find an hx35 or a garret from a powerstroke.
