Hello again Oil Burners. I have a 1985 F250 with a 7.3 idi turbo. ZF5 also. Iv been noticing some rattling coming from my bell housing recently. It's not too loud, the trucks idle mostly covers it up. Clutch works great also. I'm thinking it's either DMF , pressure plate, clutch or one of bearings. I'm putting a solid flywheel in but I have a clutch I bought for my 6.9 however it's a Power Torque from O'Reilleys. Are those clutches any good? Or should I just buy a more reliable kit? Thanks again for looking at my thread.

My guess would be dmf or tob. Those are notorious for making noise in these trucks. Flywheels are interchangeable but clutch disks are not. The zf5 and t19 have different size input shafts. So if your clutch kit is for a 4 speed it will not work. I think even the one year 6.9/zf had dual mass flywheels. I have no personal experience with different smf kits other than I can hear my tob over any gear roll over noise their may be. Previous owner swapped in a zf with a smf. The only thing I've heard about the oriellys kit is they like to chatter. The luk kits are praised around here and can be bought from rock auto for 280$ shipped. I've had some slippage when abused and tob noise so I bought a south bend kit that I have yet to install

Luk smf kit seems to work well for most everyone. Yes makes some occasional noise but most people can ignore it or get used to it. I have the luk kit and it's holding up to a 90cc pump, injectors and 18psi boost
