Okay, so I'm looking to replace all four shocks in my 1995 F250 4wd with 8800lb GVWR and D50 front end. I have neither bought or replaced shocks on a vehicle before in my life. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions, knowledge, or experience with these two specific shocks or any other general shock advice.

For the rear

I bought Monroe's on my last truck and they sucked. Spend the extra money and get a set of Bilsteins, they are pretty reasonable online at a couple different places.

My recommendation would certainly be for Bilsteins as well. I have 5100's on the front that replaced the blue and yellow HD's and still have the blue/yellow HD's on the back. I had experimented with the Gabriel's version of monotube shocks a few years ago before I bought the Bilsteins. The Gabriels were way, WAY! to stiff! Did I mention they were too stiff? The valving just was not right. I have been happy with the Bilsteins, the ride is good (as good a 1 ton CCLB 4X4 can be I guess) and I have replaced two shocks under warranty (lifetime) with no trouble. If you by them from a place like Summit Racing, save your original receipt and the boxes the shocks come in just in case you have a warranty issue.

Bilsteins, no other choice......

I have them on the Excursion, and they were one of the best things I did to the truck..........

I got mine from Don's Sport Vehicle Sales. Heavy Duty Front 24-016179 62.25 each. Rear 24-016186 69.75 each. My truck is a '97, but same as yours. This was about a year ago.

I got the Yellow 4600 Series for my truck. it is a stock height, pavement pounding "family car". The Silver 5100's are nice, and them make them for lifted applications.

I actually ordered mine through my local 4 Wheel and Off Road shop, they were having a sale at the time and were less than online.....

One thing to remember that may be confusing, some of the Bilsteins are a "body up, rod down" design. I know the Super Duty Truck application is this way, which is odd, because it looks like you mounted the shock upside down....

Bilstein's all the way !!

I am no mechanic... but replacing the shocks is easy.
You don't even have to remove the front wheels.

My F350 rides firm but the Bilstein's smoothed it out a little, even the wife thought it rode better.
