Like many others I’ve been tempted to save on fuel costs by running a waste oil mix, but I’ve never done it because the carbon in it is bad for the fuel system. But now I found a shop closing down near me that’s selling 325 gallon bulk containers of clean, new Valvoline 5w-30 motor oil for $650 each ($2/gallon). So my question is this: would running the truck on a fuel mixture containing new motor oil avoid the pitfalls of waste oil? Are there still downsides that would shorten the life of my fuel system and/or engine?
