A couple weeks ago I lost a freeze plug behind the clutch. Needless to say, this prompted a bunch of repairs including:

-ceramic clutch from Pheonix Friction.
-replacement 093 up pipes from Russ.
-new o rings and grommets for the turbo pedestal thanks again to Russ
-ZF shift boot from Ford
-transfer case shift linkage bushings
-RDT to further eliminate the oily mess on top of my engine.

Pic 1- No, it's not a fancy water cooled clutch!

Pic 2- getting to old to struggle, hence new trans jack.

Pic 3,4,5- the tight squeeze fitting a lifted cclb into my shop

Pic 6,7-new 093 cast up pipes and install kit

Pic 8-almost shot old clutch

Pic 9,11- new ceramic clutch kit

Pic 10- pin holes on my old cross over pipe

Pic 12,13,14- some redneck rigging to pick up the ZF5speed and get it on the jack for the install.

Pic 15-18- pulled turbo, install kit even came with the pedestal grommet, winning!

Pic 19- picked up some 16x10 Weld rims to upgrade from the current 16x8's.

do you think the freeze plug rotted out or was it a bad install?

anyway, nice work, i know what you mean with taking it a little easier on the body. one of the reasons i am adding a winch on the front of my truck for firewood. let the machine take the abuse!

Holy cow! What an undertaking [emoji43] but it feels good to get it all done and know it is done right and with the parts you pick

They are stainless freeze plugs, every other one appears to be perfect. I'm not really sure why it went. This is the second one though so the curiosity has me as well. Engine comes out next time.

Put a 1/4" rigid coupling in for my EGT probe. Fitted Russ's two piece cross over pipe, tacked it and pulled it back out for a bench weld.

Gave up on the CDR and ran a piece of 1" for a RDT.

Gave her a good hard run. Will check fluids tomorrow to make sure nothing mixed, top off coolant, pick up new transmission and floor board shift boots from Ford and tend to a couple of other small things before the trip to Michigan. Oh yeah, boost went from a laggy 8psi to a quick spooling 13psi with a waste gate adjustment while the turbo was on the bench.

i am almost surprised it did not hit higher! those were some serious exhaust leaks. i would try to clean off as much of that old carbon as you could, you don't want that stuff promoting rust.

I've burned through 6 cans of Brakleen washing down the oily soot residue.

Ford is mighty proud of these things @ $93 a pop. The difference is night and day as far as noise suppression.

All the oil leaks had me weary. Got rid of the mechanical oil pressure gauge in favor of one with an electrical sending unit. One less leak to worry about. My OCD is happy as the sweeps on the gauges now match.
