Does anyone how much of a hassle it would be to remove/replace the P/S pump on a '96 VW Passat?
My brother and I rebuilt the engine last summer after we found out it had 450,000 miles (we bought it thinking it only had 150,000, didnt know the odo tripped after 300k
). It was shaking terribly and smoked like no other. Now its nice to drive and its getting 44 mpg 
But now theres a squealing sound at idle and lower rpms when the steering wheel is turned and sometimes theres no P/S.
The original reservoir hose barb broke off (my bad
) so we rigged up a reservoir from a different VW, but I'm not sure if its getting enough fluid to the pump. Does anyone have a spare reservoir or know of a source? Not to many foreign salvage yards here have VW's. let alone the diesels.
