I just acquired my grandpa's old diesel tank. He owned an excavation business and he used this tank every day. He passed away a few years back. This tank is ugly but it reminds me of him so I want to use it. Here is a picture :

What is the best way to clean it out? When I stood it on end I heard rust(?) Slide around. I would like to use the tank for auxiliary fuel and need it to be clean.

I was also given a transfer tank / tool box combo. It has a Holley red pump in it for transferring. It is a pretty neat.setup. I'm not sure what I'm going to use it for yet.

That is what o was thinking too. What micron filter would handle the rust? Or should I just use a diesel fuel filter?

go to tractor supply and get a filter that fits on there. they have em. you can hand pump threw the filter then and end up with clean fuel. thats how all the ones i install end up.
