Couple weeks back I had the lift pump replaced in my 04, went with the dealer installed pump in the tank, due to lack of money, and it's still under warranty. Right at 800 miles, it started hesitating, and eventually stalling out. First thing I did was check the codes, got the P 0088. Not knowing what it was, and not having cel service, I then pulled the lid off the filter housing to find it way low on fuel. Wouldn't start, passer by loaned me a phone to get a tow. Towed it to the nearest dealer where it started every time for them, and cost me a hundred dollars, again.

Any suggestions? I've read what the code means, but all I found about what causes it is the fuel pressure regulator(s)

So, why would it not start for me, and why was the filter bowl empty?

Thanks.

P0088 is fuel rail pressure is above max limit. It would have to be diagnosed but I would bet you have a bad fuel rail pressure sensor. I dont think it was related to your transfer pump replacement.
