Dunno. It is identical to the Wix 1734 except it uses glass media. I buy them for a few bucks more than the Motorcraft 1995. Thought I would give it a try.

Don't know if it means anything, but it says "Beta Ratio: 4/75=10/30"

Yep, that's what I was curious about. Impressive numbers, but it's odd that they chose 4/75 as the betas to give. Usually WIX does 2/20. Beta 75 is almost silly to advertise, but I'm guessing with that synthetic media in there, they're just bragging.

But yeah, that's one helluva filter!

Some of the powerstroke guys are running the Donaldson elf7405. Looking at the specs it seems pretty impressive to me. Check it out at http://www.ryderfleetproducts.com/r...aign=product&gclid=CIGpotGY8rkCFcaDQgodvRYA5g I personally have not tried them out but am very interested in them.

Wow, even better filtration on that one (99% efficiency = Beta 100. Can't really compare apples to apples, but you figure if Beta 100 is 15 micron, that beats the WIX Beta 75 of 30 micron), but that thing is 3.5" longer than the Powerstroke filter, which is already longer than our stock one. I'd be concerned there'd be clearance/fitment issues at some point, or that it'd hang a little too low for comfort. But if it does fit, that thing would probably last a couple years, lol!

Just to give you an idea of the shear magnitude of that monster, go to google images and type in "powerstroke Donaldson elf7405". The only mentioned issue I have heard of about it is that the solid axle powerstrokes with anti-sway bars tend to bend the end of the filter if you drive it like a prerunner. Apparently the sway bar whacks it and leaves a nice crease. Also, I figure with the larger size of the filter that the increase of Beta will not affect oil pressure very much.

You don't want a dented filter. Often they put a valve or a spring in the closed end. Denting the closed end may compromise the filter and allow unfiltered oil to bypass the media.

Here's a little comparison look at the two WIX filters. The paper and the glass media.

WIX 51734
Beta Ratio: 2/20=10/30
Burst Pressure-PSI: 385
Max Flow Rate: 28-30 GPM
Nominal Micron Rating: 21

WIX 51734XE
Beta Ratio: 4/75=10/30
Burst Pressure-PSI: 200
Max Flow Rate: 28-30 GPM
Nominal Micron Rating: 10

I'm trying to find more on the Donaldson ELF7405 = Baldwin B7249-MPG = Fleetgaurd LF3566
