I was pulling a trailer with a mini excavator today. while climbing a long grade after sitting in stop and go traffic on a highway the OD light started flashing. truck shifted fine no hard limp mode shifts. I pulled over to check it out and found no leaks. After I arrived at my friends house to drop off the machine I let the truck idle for 15 minutes to cool off then shut it off for about 45 minutes. when I started the truck the OD was no longer flashing. would the OD light flash if the trans is overheating?

It could have thrown a slip code at you. Slipping creates heat.

Best thing to do is upgrade the factory cooler. Stop anf go traffic is tough on any tranny. If you can manual shift it.
