I was driving around last night and I came across THIS. I called the guy up and subsequently (of coarse) he posted it up on CL. The reason I want it is because I am looking for a fun little "cruiser" that I can park in the city!!

I am would like to hear all of your opinions as to if it would be a good buy, obviously the pictures are not the greatest but what I can tell you is:

Does not run, has not run for "a few years"
Floor boars and bed are rusted damn near through
paint is cracking EVERYWHERE
missing some electrical stuff (lights, interior parts etc..)
interior is pretty rough
underneath looked "OKAY" but I obviously could not get under it completely.

He is asking $800 and without a lot of negotiation I got him to $600, I think I can walk away with it for $500 tops!

Thoughts, ideas, advice?

Thanks!

Seems like parts would be hard to find.

Those old flat fours were so gutless it wasn't even endearing.

I always thought a Terra would be fun but that looks like you wouldn't be able to drive it for a few years, at least at the rate I do stuff.;p

Go for it! Man i wish i was closer! There a fun lil rig, take the top off and cruse around town.! or build it up and put an idi in it! There is a guy on the pirate board who put a power stroke diesel in the same body style scout so anything can fit!

go to binderplanet.com they have all the parts and info you need

wished you were around a few years back. I had a fully restored little scout and a parts truck to go along with it. had it listed for $1500 and no takers. it eventually went to the crushers and I got tonnage for both of them.

That is a horror story!! What are your thoughts on this bad boy??

I am finally back in action, and back into getting back on the forum.

I want to get the lift on the kit soon, I also need to get my ass in motion to send my turbo out.

and add a scout ontop of it... I am going to be working on projects for the net 22 years haha.

why not get that terra with the 6.2 and slam another 6.2 into it?
it's much more practical.

I love the look of the Scout 80 so much more than the 800 or II...

Also, I am thinking about giving it to my girlfriend when I am done with it... She has a LEAD foot so there is no need for big power for her!!

oh and one other thing... this one is $500 doll-hairs!!

trust me. they are simple but alot of work. I have no idea on how they crammed a PSD into a mini scout, but with the steering column, there really isn't much roon. lastly, a steering damper is a must.
