No intake hose on the air cleaner.. supposed to be like that?

I just bought a 1990 F350 7.3L , it's my first diesel so I don't know a lot. There is no intake hose on my air cleaner and I'm just wondering if there originally was? is it better this way? if not where should i run an intake hose to? Thanks

I haven't seen one with it.
But I stuck one off a chevy on mine, ran it to the grill area.

There's supposed to be one going to a molded duct on the drivers side side of the radiator. Draws ambient air in rather than hot post radiator/engine bay air.

Google image search "7.3 idi" and you will see it. You must be missing the air duct hose plus the molded under-hood-lip part. Scrap yard!

The hose and molded part is the same as the hose that goes to the intake bowl.

I thought wae hose on bottom of air cleaner...dump/drain tube
