Can I throw in my two cents which may or may not make a difference? You say it ran fine from the guys house but died near home and was also cranking slow? Are you having a charging problem? If you are, I would also say that low voltage to the varoius engine management goodies would cause poor running issues.

You know, I forgot to mention one of the most obvious things that will "kill" a PSD. Check your oil level. Running down the highway with low oil might have drained your crank case, so when you let off the throttle, the LPOP didn't have any oil left to fill the HPOP reservoir. PSD's have a sort of built-in safety that way; if you ever run yourself out of oil, they'll shut down. Not like it's a permanent damage sort of thing, since you got it re-started (from the oil settling back down into the crank case), but it's worth looking in to.
