I've been planning to do a Cummins conversion for awhile and finally bought a donor truck. It's a 1997 3/4 ton 4x4. I found one with a Mexican block, 400,000KM. and blown automatic transmission. It has power steering and air conditioning giving me the accessory drives I think I need. Asking a number of questions, I took his word that the motor was running when the tranny quit 3 months ago. I bought the whole truck for $1000.00 so I am prepared to spend some money freshening it up but would like to see it running with my own eyes before taking everything apart. Is it OK to try to start this with no transmission or torque converter attached? It was already removed. I was originally going to put the motor in my 1990 Lariat 4x4 which I've owned since new but now realize how long this is going to take me and I am looking for a 2008 F350. I plan to fuel it with mostly ATF which I have readily available. Any and all advice is appreciated. THANKS
