Here are a few more of paint and install.
The engine contains all stock size Sealed Power, bearing, pistons (with teflon like coating on skirts), rings, FelPro Blue Stripe gaskets and seals, Melling oil pump, Airtex LP, rebuilt heads by H&H Machine, brand new appearing crank, a very nice looking block with exception of a scored #5 which was sleved by Rollands Machine, topped off with Borg Warner K code injectors and a bunch of mis-match lines.
What would I do differently next time? I would go to a junk yard and pick up a factory turbo IDI
Within the first 2,000 miles I broke #1 wrist pin. I suspect it to be defective as I now have about 7,000 trouble free miles on 4 more new pistons and wrist pins in that bank.
I am not sure what pump I am using??? it has good power to 3200 then de-fuels on to 3600 under a load. I was thinking about installing a reman 94 IDIT pump but have yet to see the need.
The truck runs good for weighing 13,400# empty I raced it against another guys Top Kick 3116 cat with fuel turned up about 85% we stayed side by side to about 3rd then the IDI quickly pulled away. We tried again and again with same results every time!
She will pull a pretty good grade at 50mph weighing 34,000# (s-1600 is only supposed to gross 26K).
In the future I want to build another one like it except a crew cab with a flat bed and a compound turbo P-pump DT-466.
