Since my truck is a 77 my ford/ats down pipe does not fit right at all. Even with the body lift it touches the body and transmission and there is the strange flat spot. Would it be totally wack to use flex pipe? I would try to find a better quality that the autozone repair stuff but same concept. I have seen flex pipe as a permanent install on big rigs before.

I am open to suggestions.

Better yet would be to go for a little more lift or cut more of the firewall away and do more of an NMB2 style upgraded 3" exhaust flange/downpipe. The flex pipe would probably not be any worse than that factory crushed downpipe and might be better if you got something decent and since it could flex around the tight spots and be larger it might be less restrictive.

I believe Darrin is running flex pipe on big ed for a down pipe, but that's a cummins. The 6-71T I was working on the other day had flex pipe for a down pipe and my truck has had flex pipe from the banks down pipe to my exhaust for over a year now.
