MERCEDES “WOLF” Prototype (Mercedes G-Wagon)
This is the very rare 4-door, long wheelbase version which was designed to transport officers and generals off road (Generalswagen). However due to standardization requirement this 4-door version was not integrated into the army inventory. Therefore, it is a unique and rar piece of automotive/ military history. This vehicle was completely restored from 1999 till 2000 with more than 15.000 DM in parts invested! For photos check the internet under:

Many new parts, front brake disks, caliper, rear brake drums and wheel brake cylinders, muffler, differential locks, drive shafts - front and rear, 4x4 or 2WD with reduction gear and overdrive. The work was done at a Mercedes shop according to Mercedes handbook and standards!
Engine: strong 5 cylinder Mercedes Diesel OM 617 with new injector nozzles, NO electronics that can break!!! The car is over 30 years old and can be registered as historic vehicle to save insurance and tax.

New 2 piece canvas top. One piece goes over the front seats and the second piece covers the cargo area. This 4x4 Jeep is the prototype of the Mercedes Wolf which was adapted by the German Army and NATO, who used them in the Balkans and Afghanistan. This particular car is from the Bundeswehr testing ground ( the equivalent to the US Aberdeen Proving Ground) and was used to test the vehicle performance.
This Mercedes was featured in the “Gelaendewagen + Freizeit” Magazin Heft 3, August 2000.
