Driving home on the highway yesterday at about 65 when the truck lost power and died, pulled over and switched to the rear tank (the front was still 3/4 full) cranked for a few seconds and it fired up.

Continued driving home, tried the front tank 2 more times and each time after 20 seconds it would lose power/no fuel. Well later that night on the way home again I switched to the front again and it worked fine...:dunno Its running fine on the front tank for now.

Any ideas? I replaced the valve 2 years ago with the cheaper generic on from central autoparts. The original valve had stopped working for one of the tanks when it failed.

Thanks,
-Rob

Sounds logical. I had my factory valve get stuck between tanks and shut me down on the turnpike. It was 24 years old, so I think it lasted long enough. I bought a replacement motorcraft unit, and will be content to expect another quarter century out of that one.
