I HAVE SMOKE!!!!

so i got the converter in and truck works good so far. all i did was make my own 3 inch downpipe and the throttle response is like night and day and it makes lots'o black smoke when i get into it.

what changed soo much from just changing that pipe?

It is breathing! thats what made the difference.
We have three of the factory turbo trucks, two of them are completely stock, and the third, my moms truck with the new 6.9 engine has a banks aftermarket exhaust on it with a V-band steel tubular down pipe instead of the pinched anemic stock one. And that truck will run circles around the other two, even with the smaller 6.9.

Faster spool time = less boost lag = faster throttle response
