This time it's not a Ford.

It's a 1991 Suburban. Its 4x4,6.2l w/ banks turbo, automatic ( not sure what trans yet) , rear AC :D , barn doors, tires are like new. The interior is nice enough. It definitely needs paint. It has Pyro, boost and aftermarket tach gauges. BUT.. The Pyro probe is cut ...

The story is that the PO bought it for himself. He had a motorhome with a 6.2 that had 80k on it so he paid a guy to swap it in to replace the tired 6.2. The transmission is suppose to have 10k on it. After the swap the engine now starts and dies.

I paid him extra to deliver it because of my trans being shot. My waterfall of a driveway proved to be too much for his 80's f250. He got stuck halfway up. So with my shot e4 I hooked up to him and drug his truck, solid steel flat bed trailer with the suburban on it up the hill. My truck didn't complain one bit. I thought he was in gear helping but it turns out he was in neutral just sitting back and letting my truck go to work. I love my truck ..

Here is a picture. I will post more after I get it cleaned up a bit.

congrats on the purchase, looks good! I never understood the enmity between alot of ford and chevy owners; its more of a loving sibling rivalry for me!
(out of curiosity..) whats the powerplant in the truck in your avatar? I have a similar truck that I'm debating several options on lol

My plan is to replace the return lines to eliminate the possibility of a plugged return shutting the pump down. Then I'm replacing the filter box with a spin on filter. After that I will connect the exhaust back together ( right now the two manifolds are not feeding the turbo. They just dump out like a NA truck) . And he wondered why it ran poorly and wouldn't stay running ...

Thanks guys!

The truck in my avatar I originally built in high-school. It had a built 390. I put a 7.3 and t19 in it a few years ago though.

The crazy thing is I use to get about 15mpg with the 390/c6 and 42" tsl's. No one ever believed me until they road around with me and saw it for themselves.

If ya keep your foot off the floor the bigger tires will actually help your fuel economy (granted, I don't have the maturity for that) but still; WOW thats incredible.. my friend has a 2x4 dually with a 390 in it and the 4spd (t18 possibly?) and was happy to get 13 so I guess its in the neighborhood lol

The tires definitely made a huge difference. When I dropped to 36's my MPG went to poop.

At least this one you won't have the caps and o-rings to mess with.

If it's missing the crossover pipe, you can get a better one. I just can't remember who/where.
The "factory" ones were double walled. The test for those was to see if a golfball would roll through it.

Also I can't remember for sure, but I think the filter boxes were a common air intrusion problem.

It's been awhile since I dug through all the 6.2/6.5 forums.

I'm just going to toss a short length of flex pipe on it to connect the two sides. Once it's running I'll take it in and have it fixed correctly.

I read about the air intrusion. That is why I'm going to toss a spin on filter on it.

I have a good feeling about this one. I really think it will be an easy fix. I hope I'm right.

I have a few questions. I should probably post this in the cheby forum but I love this section :D.

I found the Pyro probe. It is still there, the guy just cut the wire leading to it. I don't suppose I could just solder the wires back together ...?
One thing that has me completely baffled .. There is no vent for the cdr on the engine. I found random parts in a box that came with it but I cannot find a location to vent the crank case. This engine was in a motorhome so maybe it has a weird location that I cannot find.

Here are some more pics :) .
