The rubber hose not hooked up is the tcase vent. Look for a barb sticking out.

The hose is connected to the barbed fitting on the t-case, where should it go from there?

I haven't seen one go very far. I would get hose and run it up higher.
I mean if you ever drive through water.

Yes that is just the vent. The kick down is a very thin tube they smashed down on the ends and put a hole in it. Best bet is to buy one. They have lots of crazy bends to them to clear everything and give the right push in the kick down lever.

Some people run with out them but my tranny guy told me that's part of the reason I burnt up a c6 so i run them
