how much fluid?

Help! Im putting a SMF in my truck today and was wondering how much fluid to put into the ZF5. I have drained the oil, just need to fill it up. I heard you should overfill to help eliminate the "gear rollover" noise. What do you suggest?

Ive believe Ive heard 1 qt over full
in our work truck I put 5 qts 30w,
works just the same as it did with 1/2 qt of something black in it

Well, just looked up in the book. Says it takes 3.4 quarts. I guess I'll put 4.5 in. It calls for Mercon, so I'll put that in. Thanks Nick.

I put 2 gallons in mine and its fine

I put two gallons in mine and have rollover noise, but I can live with it.

2 gallons?! Thats 8 quarts. I think thats little much, but if it works for you, then so be it.
