My 86 f250 2wd bed is shot and I'm starting to throw around ideas of what style of flat deck I want to put on. I can get one from the F350 I'm getting a dually rear axel from this spring but have been leaning toward building one. Anyone have pictures of custom homemade flatdecks?

That's a good looking wood deck. Not quite what I'm going for but nice build. I'm kind of thinking of doing a dovetail style 5th wheel flatdeck like I see on a lot of F550-650/gm top kick 5500/International ctx. Sort of a tow truck bed style. Truck will be used for hauling a 5th wheel camper and a gooseneck car hauler once finished

To buy one from a local fab shop the way I want it built I could take a month off work and buy supplies to build it and still be cheaper than buying one around here. I'm a HD mechanic and do a lot of fabricating/machining so building one will be simple. Just looking for some design ideas, lots of flat decks out there but haven't really seen any really nice ones on older fords.

Props to Dieselcrawler.

Those are the very first stacks I have ever seen that didn't make me vomit immediately.

They actually work pretty well with the overall look.

I feel horribly dirty for admitting that.

truck was boxy, stacks needed to be. 4x4 square tube. 1/4 inch thick. lol. that truck had a very distinct sound with them on it.
