Yes, however not all that easy...need to remove IP lines to injectors...better to MARK IP and remove it leaving the IP gear cover in place, then you don't loose time of it!
Heres the deal with leaving it on the engine. Your going to have way to tuff of a time getting the valley pan area clean under the pump. Its so easy to remove the pump but do as Al suggested. Make a center punch mark in the housing and pump joint. then you can line up the two half circles of the center punch mark and the timing will be the same. No problem. Make the job eaier.. Not harder. So you will need a 5/16 12 point socket to remove the three drive bolts and the bent 9/16 wrench to loosen the nuts holding the pump to the gear housing. Leave the hard lines on the pump and move it towards the intake. Twist it towards the passenger side fender and lift the drive end up thru the two studs that the nuts fastened to.. Easy as can be really. I have a video of doing this round these parts. Maybe someone can link it here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyhgOhS1OhY
Cool was thinking about how to hold the timing and I am doing this on the floor out of the truck. Would be a great time to do th the type 4 came and studded but no $$$$$$!!!! Grrrrr
