Is great to see all the new members that have joined over the past 3-4 mo's.

Lot'sa new idea's being thrown around. Some sound promising, some not so much. But thinking outside of the box can only lead to interesting results Some sound downright dangerous to IDI'S :dunno (dyoung!:D).

It sounds like some of the New Guy's are not as nearly as conservative as some of Us long time OBN'ers.

Anyways, Welcome to all the newer Members, and keep the idea's flowin!

This is what it's all about. C'mon, don't you want to see a compound turbo, 5000 rpm, dyoung proof IDI?;p If you can make an IDI survive with him, it can survive with anyone.

He's going to be the official Test Pilot and Engine Stress Analyzer of Oilburners.;Sweet

I think it could be due to the economy and there is a lot of people that can afford one of these old fords compared to a newer diesel truck.

Can you talk to some of the pump specialists in Europe for us? Since diesel performance is a normal thing, we could use some of the knowlege applied to these engines, without tons of smoke.

Someone wants to build an engine I'll run it as hard as they want...I'm conservative with my stuff because I like to go out, start it and move whatever I need to move (not things that AREN'T supposed to move)! LOL

I'm happy to see the new faces as well, that's what keeps things going and I'm enjoying reading about all the carnage as I continue to stock pile parts! :)

I've been here for over two years, I've had some crazy ideas but before this influx of new guys the the general answer for thinking outside the box was it cant be done.

Oh, I still think there is a lot that can't be done, just waiting on the new guys to prove me wrong. I'm by no means a diesel specialist, but I've been around performance engines for a long time. I think there are improvements that can be made, but I also think there is a lot of pipe-dreaming going on that will never come to fruition. Gary (icanfixall) did some extensive port work, Russ (typ4) has a cam and is great with turbo's, Mel (agnem) and the moose product line, Travis (argve) with **** injection, etc. and I think that it's like anything else, the new wave will have to learn what works and what doesn't on their own, and there will be some carnage along the way, but maybe we'll all find a little more to be had as the progression occurs!

I think Ken probably learned a lot by blowing up an engine or two as well...I'm assuming he's moved on to bigger and better things these days, but remember, getting performance out of these things didn't just become an issue, Huff, landyaght, etc. have been working on some of this same stuff for years.

I'm sure that there will be some failures, if some of these 'experiments' are carried out. But I guess We can all learn something by the tests of others

I have been watching the "new guys" too. I'm someone that can always learn something from others... Will I take it as far as it will goo... Probably not. I'm thinking 250 hp at the rear wheels is an easy assignment here. I really need to find out what my hp is very soon. Then we will have a place to start with. If I don't have what I want for hp there is still plenty left on the table.... Propane... Intercooler.... Water-**** injection.... Cam.... Maybe some valve shapeing on the intakes too.... Yes... The new guys are always welcome here... We once were all the new guy....:sly
