Recently completed the Superduty axle swap into my 86 ford f-250 4x4. Both axles are geared 3.73. First time driving was yesterday and everytime i let off the accelerator i hear a grinding noise coming from the rear end.. I rechecked the yoke and nut to check tightness and they are tight??
:dunno
Any help would be vastly appreciated

Where the ring's and pinion's changed? Were the axle's put in as an assembly or all tore apart then re-assembled? Are you sure it's the rear and not the front? Did you tear the front apart and service the bearings and O'rings?

Both were put together whole. The rear yoke was pulled and the 86 yoke was slid into the 03 axle with a new seal. The front drive shaft is not hooked up.

The only thing i can think of is that the sd axles take a long pinion yoke, and if your truck had the original 10.25 rear in it and you used that yoke, then it did not bottom out against the bearings making tour pinion loose.
